It all belongs

Hi, I'm Cody (they/them). I find these 'about' sections really tricky. I'm risking sounding too cliché here, but Walt Whitman really got it right when he said, 'I contain multitudes.' I'm highly sensitive, highly empathic, and melancholy af (I'm a 4 on the Enneagram, if you're into that kind of thing). I'm a creative, a dreamer, and a big believer in our capacity for kindness, compassion, and vulnerability. I'm also a big believer in our capacity for growth, healing, and transformation.

Which leads me to why I do the work I do. I'm a therapist and a spiritual mentor. I hold a BA in Counselling and am a registered member of the BACP at the MBACP level. In addition to my training, I bring extensive lived experience. I have had years of therapy myself, many of those with a Psychosynthesis Psychotherapist.

I have journeyed to the depths of my own pain and trauma. I have connected with my contradictions and unlearned the judgment I once held so strongly against myself. I have navigated multiple identity crises and am comfortable sitting with the big questions, the ones that often don't have immediate answers, or answers that fit neatly into boxes.

I have nearly two decades of experience in accompanying people in their spirituality. I've worked in churches, retreat centres, schools, and spiritual communities. I no longer belong to any religion, but for as long as I can remember, my spirituality has been a guiding presence in my life. I've sat with my own doubts, deconstruction, and spiritual trauma, and through it all, still have a strong sense that all of THIS is deeply connected. But I've traded certainty for curiosity.

I am passionate about journeying with people towards greater authenticity, agency, and freedom. I believe one of the best things we can do for each other is learn to truly love ourselves. Finally, I acknowledge there are many systems and structures designed to keep us numb, keep us small, keep us 'in line', keep us disconnected, and convince us we are the problem. We live in a sick society. Capitalism, Colonialism, Patriarchy, Oligarchy, etc.

The system is f**ked.

Healing is an act of rebellion.
